Welcome to Evergreen! We’re excited you’re here, and hope this game will help you regain a sense of hope and agency during a time where those are both in short supply. In that spirit, we’ve designed Evergreen to be intentionally modular, with a variety of playstyles and materials in order to allow each user to customize their own experience. Feel free to use any of the playstyles or materials below, or invent your own!
 

Evergreen is a long-term game. It’s not meant to be played over the course of an afternoon, a day or even a week. Evergreen was designed to not only help you discover small, easy changes that you can make in your life to become more sustainable, but to encourage you to continue making those changes. Creations of house rules, homebrew, or other modification of the game (especially in regards to long term change) is encouraged! For example, you can make a card holder to display long-term cards you’re working on at the moment and continuously remind yourself of your goals! 

Finally, while playing this game won’t solve climate change by itself, we hope it can be used to inspire hope in you. We know that facing the issues caused by the climate crisis head-on is daunting and overwhelming, but we hope to alleviate some of that dread by giving you some agency in how you can take back control and live your life sustainably while having a little bit of fun along the way.
